One of our society members offered to undertake a special parachute jump in September 2015, donating all proceeds to the Rhondda Tunnel Society.
Pamela Griffiths (Walsh), a member of the bar staff of the Tunnel Hotel, Blaengwynfi performed a number of jumps clad in original World War II parachute uniform over the village of Arnhem in the Netherlands as part of the region's anniversary commemorations.
This is a jump that her father made in WW2 - when he parachuted in as part of Operation Market Garden & the holding of Arnhem Bridge aka A Bridge Too Far.
Walter (Wally) Lloyd Walsh served with No2 Commando 11th SAS 1st Parachute Battalion. Following the war he always returned each year for their remembrance weekend, meeting up with fellow veterans. After passing away in 2004, Walter's ashes were interned at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.
Pamela is jumping with Pathfinder Parachute Group to remember her father and all those fallen in the war.
