In May 2016, Rhondda Tunnel Society Member, Billy Williams turned 50 and wanted a challenge.
So he planned, and successfully completed a lengthy trip of two hundred miles from north to south Wales.
In September 2015 Billy participated in the 60 miles annual Valleys Velo.
He wants to say he has “cycled the length and breadth of Wales” and so now plans on cycling from West to East in early August 2016.
Starting at Aberystwyth he will be cycling over some real monster hills, including some climbs that appear to be far more challenging than endured and conquered in May riding north to south.
Using the A44 and a section of the A470 before re-joining the A44 to finish in Leominster. Billy hopes to complete the distance by the evening, not being able to start until the train reaches Aberystwyth at around 12.30hrs on the Saturday. The ride looks to be just under eighty miles, and it is hoped to complete the ride in under eight hours.
Next on the cards? … Circumnavigation of Wales’ coast and borders!
Donations received will be presented by Mr Williams to the Rhondda Tunnel Society at its monthly meeting following the cycle event.
