We have received the results of the topographical surveys and need to check on the plans that are based on them. We concluded that the plans are basically sound. There will need to be a short retaining wall to hold back a bank at one side of the stream and we shall need a new bridge over the stream. We also had a search to find the route of the water that drains out of the tunnel and we did not find it. We shall have to try again during the detailed examination. We went up the side of the hill above the portal to see if there was anything that might show how the water is getting into the tunnel, but again there was no obvious feature. We did find an iron stake sticking out of the ground which might have been one of the markers used to establish the line of the tunnel on the surface when they first constructed it.
